Last week I was getting dressed for the day when I realized I had a client meeting during the day, Laker game after work and then a date with my boy afterwords. Ambitious plan for a Tuesday for sure. I was stumped on what to wear that would accomodate all of these events. It would have been easier to just bring a second outfit for after work hours, but for whatever reason, I was determined to make one outfit work and wearing jeans wasn't an option. I decided to choose a few pieces that could be easily switched out (easily meaning can be swapped while driving) including a leather jacket for a blazer and pair of modest pink pumps for pink suede platform pumps. I went with a tan pencil skirt though pants would have worked just as well. In the end, I did look less corporate, though still overdressed for a basketball game. Any suggestions for your transitions from day to night?
Note: typically I would never wear heels or a skirt to a basketball game, or any game for that matter. This girl prefers to wear sneakers and my team t-shirt to any game.

Nothing but love
Valentine's day doesn't just have to be about your sweetheart. It includes everyone you appreciate - family, friends and yes, even co-workers. Maybe a little sweet treat for those who help you get through the day is just what they need to know they're appreciated. Below I made mini sundaes for my co-workers with banana pudding that I made the night before, light Cool Whip, and some Oreo cookies (can use the 100 calorie packs if you want to keep it low cal snack). If you aren't in the mood to prepare food, maybe a card. If you're feeling extra silly, grab one of the boxed sets like you used to give away in elementary school. How could anyone resist smiling at that?
Thanks to my sister-in-law for the great snack tip!

Sort of lattes from home
I love my morning latte though not the $3.50 bill at Starbucks/Coffee Bean every morning. I would love an espresso machine (would love this one in my new kitchen) but it's not in the budget yet. In the mean time I decided to spend $12 at Coffee Bean and bought this battery operated milk frother. Obviously I'm missing the espresso and have just been using strong coffee instead. I know, I know, coffee lovers are probably groaning right now; this is not a latte! But it saves me money and I'm still happy enjoying my morning coffee. Next step is to find the vanilla flavoring.
Product review: I have only used it a couple of times but I love it so far. I don't expect it to last forever but $12 is less than four lattes so I am going to consider it a sound investment for now.

Quick hair fix with dry shampoo
I'm a little behind in the dry shampoo craze but in effort to keep my hair out of a ponytail everyday, I have been experimenting with this product to get me through post workout mornings and sleeping just a little too late.
Technically the Aveda Pure Abundance is not a dry shampoo but I thought it worked the best to create volume and absorb oil. Admittedly, it boosts volume better than it absorbs oil so if you have super oily hair, it may not be the best solution. I have also tried Pssssss Dry Shampoo which is similar to Suave and is about $6.
So in conclusion, still on the hunt for a great dry shampoo for an efficient morning. Let me know if you have better suggestions!

Can't wait for Sunday
This Sunday is a big day. Super Bowl Sunday and the Jason Wu line for Target goes on sale. In one day I get two of my favorite things: NFL football and great fashion that I can afford. But if the Jason Wu line release is like the Missoni release last year, you will need to get to Target early to snag any of the Wu items. Missoni was pretty much sold out the day of so get up early, hit up Target and then get ready to watch the Giants and Patriots battle it out. If that doesn't interest you, football snacks and the ads hopefully will reel you in.

How much is too much color at work?
Rewind back to Wednesday. Excited that it's hump day and feeling like some bright colors would help me get through the rest of the week. I love color and try to incorporate some into my outfit everyday but I typically don't go with the bright, 80's inspired colors I chose this particular day. Sort of Don Johnson circa the Miami Vice era - that is if he was a female and Asian. Anyway I got a lot of "that's interesting" remarks at work about my outfit and thus it made me second guess my choices. Too much color? No, I have seen great outfits that scream of neon colors though maybe not at work. Too much of the wrong color? Perhaps. I'm interested in your thoughts. Though in the end, it doesn't really matter. I was happy, cheerful and still covered up enough for work and that's all that matters to me.
Note: for the evening or weekend, definitely not a color overload!

Homemade rolls? Nope office made!
Last week I decided to try a new mid-afternoon snack with my coworker/lunch/snack buddy, Monika. We made smoked salmon rolls with cucumbers, avocado, and pea shoots wrapped in seaweed. They were delicious, healthy and actually pretty filling. I would suggest prepping and cutting your filling at home and then assembling at work. We just stacked our ingredients in a triangle piece of seaweed, rolled and we called it the MK roll, just to be silly. I would suggest a dash of soy sauce (save those packets!) and to experiment with veggies.
